Here's a beautiful antique cased "end of day" art glass sock darner that was hand blown in the late 1800s.... Cobalt blue, pink, green, and orange multi color splotches with white opaque cased glass interior....Clear thick glass outer layer.... 6 1/2"long x 2 3/4"round ball end... Ground smooth opening on other end where the blowpipe was removed by the glassblower....
Excellent shiny mint condition with no chips or damage. A sparkling clean antique sock darner over 120 years old. A great looking darner that is called end of day glass by collectors.Master glass blowers would often make sock darners and other "whimsies" at the end of their shift to give away to loved ones for Christmas & birthday presents. We acquired a small group of these antique original blown glass darners from an old Pennsylvania collection. They were most likely blown at a New England or New York glasshouse.. IF YOU LIVE WITHIN THE U. Unless you contact me first. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
