2H 1800s New England Glass Co Blown Bowl w/Applied Handles Extensively Engraved. We search estate sales, auctions, garage sales and pick in search of items to bring to you.
This is a hand blown with applied handles glass bowl marked N. It is extensively engraved with two bold on trees, a dog and floral motif. The bowl has a polished concave pontil and signed N. Measures 8 1/8" H x 9 1/8" wide across the top of the bowl opening and 12 handle edge to handle edge. It has a ring when tapped but does not fluoresce blue as flint glass normally does under short wave UV so may be later flint period, not sure if truly flint.I suspect late 3Q or early 4Q 1800s when manufactured. While this is old glass, seems the N. Glass Co mark may be an addition, per CMOG "acid-etched signature, "N. , but this is likely a later addition to the glass, probably applied in the 1960s.
FLUORESCES YELLOW GREEN UNDER LONG WAVE UV FLUORESCENT LIGHT. Great used condition for its age.It is free of chips, cracks, roughness, repairs, stains, etc. Check out my other auctions of collectibles. PLEASE READ BEFORE LEAVING FEEDBACK.
