Here's an early blown flint glass pontiled "flip" or large 6 1/4tall drinking tumbler with copper wheel cut sailing ships and ribbed pattern..... I believe this an original flint glass flip blown in the early 1800s... Pattern mold blown with vertical ribs around the bottom 2/3s of vessel (you can feel the ribs inside and outside)..... Cut engraved sailing ships on front and back with squiggle lines.....
Rough pontil scar on bottom with a bit of iron left from the pontil rod.... Green flint glass rings like a bell when tapped.... 6 1/4"tall x 4 1/2"across rim.... Sparkling mint condition with no chips or damage of any kind.A nice clean flip with no haze. Some normal light wear on very bottom. This came from the the Paul & Mary Ballentine Collection of Springfield, Ohio.... I believe it is an early original pattern mold blown flint glass flip.
Paul and Mary were seasoned collectors who had one of the finest collections of early blown glassware and bottles in the country.... IF YOU LIVE WITHIN THE U.
