This tall brass floor lamp, or tochiere, is done beautifully in the Empire style, with a focus on Grecian themes. It was custom designed by Fine Art Lamps and Lighting, Co, located in Miami Lakes, Florida. The lamp, standing 73 tall, is made of of three tall, fluted solid antiqued brass columns that sweep up to hold a large urn aloft, before sweeping away to frame the wide alabaster glass torchiere shade. The urn, a classic symbol for sorrow or mortality, is decorated with garlands of laurel, a symbol of victory, while the columns are topped with stylized artichoke finials, a symbol for hope. There is also a large artichoke finial at the base of the urn.
The garlands of laurel are suspended by copper wires and swing freely and the lamp is a connected to an in-line foot dimmer. The hand-blown alabaster glass shade measures 22" in diameter and the base measures 18" in diameter. This lamp is quite heavy and shows minimal signs of age or use related wear. Lamp does not come with light bulb. Please consult images, and message with any questions.
