What a great embossment to have on an apothecary jar! This is a mid to late 1800's hand blown jar with a pontil on the bottom and a fire polished rim. There are no chips or cracks or damage. The jar has imperfections that we expect to see in hand made utilitarian glass including a spot where the glass blowers tool touched the inside of the jar while hot. This spot shows in the photo The base has wear from years of being moved about on a shelf or counter top. It has a matching domed lid that is pressed glass with no chips cracks or damage. There is roughness where the mold seams come together and along the bottom lip of the lid.... None of this is damage.
It's the nature of how the lid was made over 100 years ago. The jar is 8 high with the lid on. The opening is 5 inches wide.Check out my other sales for more drug store jars.
