Once the fly crawls under the bottle and flies up into the bottle it cannot escape due to the stopper or cork that plugs the top opening and the steep walls of the concave bottom. The bottle has a tapered form and it stands about 6 3/8" tall while measuring about 5 3/4" in diameter. The overall condition of the bottle is excellent.
There are no chips, cracks, or damaged areas to note. The clarity of the glass is excellent with no cloudiness. The top finish is rough as you might expect and the applied feet and neck ring look great. The original stopper is missing but you can easily use a cork or substitute stopper of any kind.
You can expect to find the standard imperfections associated with older glass to include air bubbles, inclusions, bits of ash, etc. I have several of these available if interested, so please be sure to check out my other listings! 1850 Antique Free Blown Glass Fly Trap Catcher Bottle with Applied Neck Ring #3" is in sale since Saturday, March 6, 2021.
